Gitzo's GT2931EX Explorer Basalt Tripod Legs is a compact tripod made from Basalt material. Basalt, a black lightweight rock, is pulverized and melted at extreme temperatures. It is then combined with other materials and spun into a strong fiber, which is used to create multi-layer composite tubing. The result is a non-rotating tube of exceptional performance that meets the demands of today's professional photographers.
The GT2931EX is especially ideal for outdoor macro and nature photography, when used with digital SLRs with 200mm lenses (up to a 300mm maximum), lightweight camcorders, or spotting scopes. It offers an excellent load capacity rating of 22 lbs (10 kg) and good torsional rigidity.
